Fortune Fund is run by the Otto Charitable Trust (NZBN 9429052829192), an incorporated charitable trust that manages all donations and distributions.
Your donation goes into a trust account at the Bank of New Zealand (BNZ), held by the Otto Charitable Trust. Each month, the trust distributes those funds to a different registered Kiwi charity — so every dollar you give is reaching a real, vetted cause.
50% to charity, 30% to prize draws, and 20% to trust administration and supporting activities.
A new charity receives donations each month, and members vote on which charity will receive funding for the upcoming month. Each Fortune Fund draw shows the charity the community is currently supporting, so you always know where your donation is going.
Every $1 donated equals 1 entry. Only donations confirmed by the closing of the current draw are eligible. If a donation misses the draw deadline, it will automatically roll forward into the next available draw. The maximum donation per user per month is $100.
When you pledge a donation, it isn't counted until your payment is received and reconciled by the Otto Charitable Trust. Most pledges are confirmed within a couple of minutes, though in rare cases it can take a little longer. The payment reference you provide must match what's shown in Otto for your donation to be confirmed.
Winners are selected randomly using a logged fair draw process. There may be one or more winners depending on the size of the prize pool. Prizes are a bonus. The primary purpose of Fortune Fund is to support New Zealand charities.
